UNFPA Holds 2017 Mid-Year Review Meeting in Kaduna
United Nations Population Fund ,(UNFPA) Kaduna Decentralised Sub-Office held its 2017 Mid-Year Review Meeting and Financial Management Orientation at Kaduna State,North-West ,Nigeria.
The meeting held at Quarter House Hotel ,Kaduna was to review the progress of programme implementation from January to June 2017, identify key challenges ,best practices and success stories that can be replicated to improve programme delivery and results for the 2017 programme year.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the opening ceremony of the meeting , the UNFPA Kaduna Sub-Office Programme Coordinator ,Mariama Darboe disclosed that the meeting was convened to improve knowledge of participants on UNFPA programme and financial management.
She also said the review would assist the UNFPA to identify key challenges, best practices and the success stories that could be replicated to improve service delivery in the second half of the year.
She further said the agency’s education and skill acquisition programmes were key to eradicating poverty and underage marriage among girls.
“`We are investing in adolescent girls to enable them build healthier homes, reduce maternal deaths and maximise opportunities toward enhanced economic growth and development,” she said.
Officials from Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Gombe States are participated in the three- day review programme.
