Police Handover Recovered KASU’s Stolen Computers to VC
Kaduna Police Command on Friday handed over the 35 units of Kaduna State University ,KASU’s stolen computers recovered by Police to the Vice Chancellor of the University ,Professor Mohammed Tanko .
Speaking during the handing over ceremony held at the Police Headquarters , the Commissioner of Police , Mr. Ageyelo Abeh said the police are more determined to not only rid Kaduna of criminals ,but also ensured that law and order are maintained .
The Police Commissioner , who informed the the Vice Chancellor that the Police Command in recent times has made series of arrests and recoveries among them the computer units belonging to KASU , promised to work with the university to ensure adequate security of its property.
According to him, the students who stole the 35 units of HP desktops computers from KASU’s computer lab have been nabbed .
He gave assurance that other stolen computers that are yet to be recovered would be recovered .
He also disclosed that the arrested suspects , who during investigation confessed to commiting the crime are in police custody and are helping to track other persons linked to the stolen property.
He however, thanked the Vice Chancellor and members of his management team for the courtesy visit to the command, adding , ” This gesture will greatly encourage the command to do more to help KASU “.
Meanwhile , he reiterated , ” I Have assured the citizens of the state that the police is determined to ensure that Kaduna is rid from any form of criminalities .”
To ensure effective information line between the police and the public , he said his phone line is 24 hours open .
” Call me I will pick ,we determined to fight crime in Kaduna .
“We are always on field to ensure we comb the city and bring activities of criminals to zero level “.
Highpoint of the event is the Signing of bond for release of the computer units to the VC of KASU , Professor Tanko .
In his remark after the handover ceremony , Professor Tanko thanked the police command for helping KASU to recover the stolen computers
According to him , the University has had several cases of stolen property ,but this is the first we got them returned Noting , ” we assure you that we will make good use of the items .
The Computer units were installed in KASU lab for usage by students , but were later stolen by some students and sold.
