​NUT Praises El-Rufai for Prompt Salaries Payment

As teachers across the world celebrate World Teachers Day , Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers used the occasion to praise Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai for the prompt payment of teachers salaries in the state.
The NUT  Chairman ,Comrade Titus Audu Amba ,who disclosed  this in an interview with a group of journalists ahead of the World Teachers’ Day celebration in Kaduna said , ” We particularly applaud the State Government’s wisdom in upgrading teachers’ terminal salary grade level to Grade level 17- which is equivalent to permanent Secretary Status”.
“we want to also appreciate the effort the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Professor . Andrew J. Nok for donating units of computers to all the teachers that participated in an ICT Workshop at Barewa College, Zaria. This singular effort will go a long way in boosting the morale of teachers in the discharge of their duties.
Amba, while speaking, noted that the pay of primary school Teachers salaries seem to be stable under the present arrangement of the Kaduna State government.

He however, explained further that the 2015 Leave Transport Grant for primary school teachers is yet to be paid in spite of numerous write-ups to the state government and other relevant agencies of the government.

According to him, “Leave Transport Grant in the primary education sector is a right and not a privilege. Government should hasten efforts and ensure its payment as the 2016 is almost due”.

He urged the government of Kaduna State to continue to maintain the tempo of salary payment and advised that the arrears of their salaries should be paid to them.

“we assure the government of our unflinching support and loyalty in its quest to revamp education in Kaduna State,” Amba said.

The Kaduna State governor,Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who was ably represented at the occasion by the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, prof. Andrew J. Nok commended the efforts of Kaduna State teachers, saying that their efforts were proven especially in the last West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

He noted that Kaduna State students took first position in whole northern party of Nigeria in the just concluded WAEC, and advised that the teacher should not relent in their efforts rather they should do more.

“ I can assure you that Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the teachers reward shall be giving to them here on earth not in the heaven”, promising that the Leave Transport Grant for Primary School Teacher is not a privilege but a right and shall be giving to the teachers.
